Osmanthus Black Tea

Osmanthus flower black tea (gui hua hong cha) is a Wuyishan black tea with fresh flowers added. The tea is mixed with the flowers and set in bamboo trays to dry and infuse the flower fragrance into the tea. A number of years ago my aunt made some of this tea at the request of a customer and it was very well received. Since then we have been requesting batch every year.
The dry leaf has a strong flower fragrance with what I think of as "roast sweet potato" fragrance. The soup has a mellow black tea fragrance and sweet floral scent with a very natural feeling.
